| MASTERS OF ARCHITECTURE - ARCHITECTURAL AND SETTLEMENT CONSERVATION |
| The Architectural Heritage of built environment is an important cultural resource for its identity, historic learning, and a tool for development. Besides this the heritage carries an important symbolic meaning in any culture. This resource has emotional, historic and use value for any culture.
To conserve and safeguard these important heritage values in the built environment of our historic towns and cities professionals are required who are trained as conservation architects, engineers, building tradesmen, and managers, who could provide expertise right from repairs to heritage properties to formulation of heritage policies for urban development of our towns and cities.
To develop such a resource of specialised professionals, CEPT University is commencing from this semester, a new Post-Graduate Programme in Conservation Studies, titled as M. The two-year programme is structured in four semesters of progressive learning scales with intermittent breaks providing an opportunity to students to undertake practical apprenticeship to sharpen their understanding and obtain a learning advantage. The studies would require students to undergo training in the following areas of education and training.
- Structural Conservation of heritage buildings to Conservation of Heritage precincts and settlements as a tool for Developmental Planning.
- Buildings Technology, focussing on Material Sciences and Construction Techniques.
- History and Theory of Culture and Technology.

MASTERS OF ARCHITECTURE - THEORY & DESIGN
The relentlessly growing gap between theory and practice, between determinants and design, between the abstract and the manifest is posing several questions and new challenges to design education. There seems to be no time for a pause and some quiet reflection on what's happening. Efforts to extract any meaning and theories that once played key roles in the evolution of architecture seem to be diminishing.
Schools in India have not been able to address these concerns, despite the fact that some good architecture has been created. Stylizing, branding and categorization have played a more significant role that critical understanding. Stepping forward out of the contextual meaning of forced attitudes, which connect neither to the rooted ness nor futuristic explorations, is another concern for debate. It may be pompous to assume that this program will answer all these questions or address all the issues. However, it is reasonable to expect healthy and polemical discussions finding expressions in seminars, lectures and design studios. It also becomes an opportunity to connect to the critical discourse at an international level.
Eligibility:
A Bachelors Degree in Architecture or equivalent recognized by the Council of Architecture. The candidates must obtain the minimum marks in the assessment which consists of Design Portfolio Evaluation and Personal Interview.
