Vagmi Patel (FT, PG 20), Master's in Geomatics, has won second position at India Clean Air Summit (ICAS) 2022: Looking At Air Pollution Through Climate Lens organized by CSTEP & University of California, Davis. She presented her third semester work at the ICAS conference held in Bangalore from 23 to 26 Aug ’22, as a poster on simulating impact of traffic air pollution using agent-based modelling techniques. She has been awarded a cash prize along with travel and accommodation.
Her studio work theme was on geospatial modeling and applications where she simulated traffic air quality of Khadia ward using agent-based modelling technique on an open-source platform. This study shows how closing of roads for vehicle can have negative AQI impact from micro to macro scale. Her study has impactful visualization and applications for managing road closure which can be used by various stakeholders to reduce vehicular air pollution.
