FT Lecture Series 2025: Urban Building Energy Modelling to Achieve Net-Zero Goals on 26th August 2025 | 2:00 to 3:00 pm
In the race toward net-zero cities, understanding how buildings consume and share energy at the neighbourhood scale is more important than ever. This talk will showcase advancements in Urban Building Energy Modelling (UBEM) and explore how these tools can unravel the complex interactions between buildings, people, and the grid. A Western Sydney neighbourhood case study will highlight the practical opportunities and challenges of applying UBEM in real-world contexts to help design healthier, more resilient, and energy-efficient urban futures.
Speaker: Dr. Chirag Deb, The University of Sydney
Chirag Deb is a Lecturer in Building Science at the School of Architecture, Design and Planning, University of Sydney. His work span across the fields of energy in buildings and cities, building sensing technology, energy retrofitting, time series analysis, and data-driven urban energy modelling.
