CEPT Workshops have introduced their first open call for artist in residence program at CEPT. The intent of the program is to recognize and support mid-career printmaking artist living and working in India who showcases a sustained level of commitment and excellence in the area of printmaking and the arts.

Eligibilty Requirements

  • This opportunity is limited to printmaking artist residing in India

  • Have to be a mid-career artist that demonstrates a sustained level of accomplishment, commitment, and artistic excellence.

  • Should not be enrolled in a full-time academic programme

  • Should not be a recipient of any ongoing fellowships

  • Artists must demonstrate excellence in at least one or a combination of, traditional printmaking mediums intaglio, lithography, screen-printing, or relief. Work may incorporate other materials but must be primarily printmaking. Any work submitted must be printed by the applicant artist

Application Process

Image sample – 20 examples of work made within the last 7 years. The images must display proficiency in lithography, intaglio, relief, monotype, screen-printing, and/or a combination of these processes. Images must be clear and professionally presented.
Images must be in JPEG or JPG format, under 5MB, and 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side.

Artist Statement - maximum 1 pages. Acceptable formats are pdf, docx Please describe your background, your approach to printmaking, and your work. Your statement should discuss your professional development as an artist and your goals for your work during the programme.

Two prints of any published material during the studio artist program must be deposited at the CEPT printmaking studio. prints deposited at the print studio will be archived and catalogued towards the collection of cept archives

Selection
A panel of three jurors will select the artist in residence

Printmaking Material: The studio will provide the working facility and basic consumables (cotton rugs and apron). kindly note etching plates and other printmaking materials cost has to be borne by the artist.

Fees for the Artist in Residence

  • Rs 10,000/- + 18% GST per month exclusive of materials (printmaking paper, etching plates, inks and other consumables).

  • PAN No. & GST Details are mandatory for Institutional/Corporate invoice cum receipt.

Studio Timings

  • Printmaking Studio Will Be Accessible From 10.00 Am To 18.30 Pm Monday to Friday Excluding Holidays Notified by CEPT University.

  • CEPT Visitor Card Will Be Provided to Access the Printmaking Workshop

Rules and Regulations

  • Food and drink are not allowed to be stored or consumed in these rooms.
  • Aprons are required for some processes and equipment operation and are provided.
  • Housekeeping is to be kept up with to provide a safe workspace. Aisles and exits are to be kept free of slip, trip and fall hazards. Bench tops are to be free of excess storage and clutter.
  • Pets and animals are not allowed in buildings.
  • Children are not allowed in Printmaking Studios
  • No smoking inside the building or within 20 feet of any doorway. No alcohol or illegal drugs in any Studios
  • Wash hands upon entering and leaving the studio.
  • The Safety Data Sheets for Printmaking are attached in the relevant annexure and available on premises.
  • Chemicals and materials not listed in the Safety Data Sheet cannot be stored or used in this lab without the consent of the Responsible Individual and studio in charge.
  • All flammable and combustible liquids and gasses must be stored in the Non-Flammable cabinet when not in use. After class, or any work sessions all flammables and combustibles must be returned to flammable cabinets. Lockers or open shelves are not acceptable storage for flammable or combustible liquids or gasses. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Procedures that are not listed cannot be used without consent of the consent of the studio in charge and until the new procedures have been added to the Safety Plan.

 

Dressing 

  • Long pants and closed toed shoes are required in the studio unless stated in the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Do not wear bracelets or necklaces that might get caught in the press
  • Do not wear rings and any other jewellery while operating in the acid bath area
  • The Use of earphones and noise cancelling headphones are not permitted while operating the equipment and processes. Students and patrons must maintain high situational awareness.
