A design studio from the Faculty of Architecture (FA) was shortlisted for the 2025 awards by World Landscape Architecture (WLA). WLA recognises, across the globe, the work of students and universities that demonstrate innovation and academic excellence in landscape architecture.

The shortlisted entry, titled Urban Waterfronts: Self-Sustaining Landscape Proposals for Goverdhansagar, Udaipur, was developed as part of the M.Arch (Landscape Architecture), Spring 2025. Offered under FA, the studio was led by tutors Priyanka Kanhare and Chandrani Chakrabarti, with Khusbhoo Prashant (Teaching Assistant).

The primary objective of the studio was to develop responsive lakeside design proposals that foster enhanced cohabitation between urban environments and natural ecosystems. Focusing on Goverdhansagar in Udaipur, the studio encouraged students to engage deeply with hydrological systems, ecological processes, and patterns of human occupation. The work aimed to promote a more harmonious relationship between people and their environment, equipping students with the skills to design in alignment with the complexities of natural systems.

The studio was recognised under the University Studio Award category. Among participating institutions worldwide, six colleges were shortlisted, placing CEPT’s studio among a distinguished global cohort.

The recognition highlights the Faculty’s continued commitment to rigorous studio pedagogy and critical engagement with pressing ecological and urban challenges.
