About Avni Sethi
Avni Sethi is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, and writer. She was the Founder and Artistic Director of the Conflictorium, Museum of Conflict (2012 – 2023), co-curator of Mehnat Manzil, Museum of Work. Her recent international residencies include the Artists’ Collective-in-Residence at SpreePark Art Space, Berlin (2025) along with Phool Foundry, the Artist-in-Residence programme at The Saison Foundation, Tokyo (2025), and The Yellow Dot Residency at Cemeti Institute for Art and Society, Yogyakarta (2024). Her writing has been published widely across books and journals, including the essay Obedient Infrastructure, Disobedient Inhabitants in Elephant in the Room (Stroom den Haag, 2023); Articulating a Museum from Absence: Emptiness in the Conflictorium beyond Pandemic Times (co-authored with Friederike Landau-Donnelly) in Museum International Journal (2021); Museum as Evidence, Justice as Culture in Museum Futures (Turia + Kant, 2021); The Other Place, The Other Time in Das Museum der Zukunft (transcript Verlag, 2020); and On Resistance in Magazine 12 (National Institute of Design Press, 2019).
