FT: Students at Geo-informatics Summer School, China

Along with 130 students from USA, Germany, Algeria, India, Pakistan and Nepal, 14 students of CEPT University participated in Geo-Informatics Summer School during 4-14 June, 2015 at Wuhan University, China. This event was jointly organized by the Collaborative Innovation Center of Geospatial Technology, Wuhan University, ISPRS Technical Commission VI, IEEE Earth Science Informatics Technical Committee, and the State Key Lab of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing (LIESMARS). There were two thematic schools: one on Spatial Statistics &Analysis and the other on Spatial-Temporal Big Data Analytics and Data Science. Dr. Dannil Griffith, Dr. Bin Li, Dr. Peter Baumann, Dr. Peng Yue, Dr. Jiang Bin were the core faculty members.

The theory and practical were arranged during morning hours. Post-lunch hours Project works was allocated for group project. Five out of 14 students of CEPT University who participated in the Summer School won the Best Project Award in the form of certificate and cash amount 1000RMB.

The Project title of Darshana Rawal was “Social Media Database Management Using MONGOdb”, Shaily Gandhi and Janki Adhvaryu’s Project title was “Influence of sea surface temperature and wind speed on sea level changes” and Sweta Delwadia’s Project titled was “An ESF based Linear Regression Approach to explore the driving force of cropland conversion in Central China”

Students also participated in sports activities and those who won were awarded certificates.
