Faculty of Architecture organised a Lecture on 22nd April, Friday, 05:00 PM to 06:00 PM at CEPT Auditorium by Prof. Dick Van Gameren, Chair of Architectural design Dwelling – TU DELFT.
Prof. Dick Van Gameren: “A building that is not linked to its surroundings is an obstacle. The key is the design of the open space in all dimensions; forging new streets, creating squares and gardens, breaking up volumes - connecting past, present and future”.
In Building Landscapes Dick van Gameren explores the various relationships between buildings and their surroundings. A number of recent projects of Dick van Gameren/Mecanoo show how buildings and landscapes can be connected; creating strong sequences of open and closed spaces, and articulating the movement through them. Featuring among others the projects: Villa 4.0 in Naarden (The Netherlands), The Garden of the 21th Century in Warsaw (Poland), a masterplan for Thamesmead, London (UK) and the Dutch Embassy in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
