Gaurav Dilip Arbooj, student of M. Arch (Sustainable Architecture) has won an award in the student category of a national level competition organized by 'Team resilient habitat'; under the name: Resilient Housing Design Competition 2013. The prize is a cash award of Rs 25,000/-
The task was to design a climate responsive and flood resilient housing for urban poor vulnerable to high intensity annual flooding due to climate change in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Gaurav’s design proposed a prototype for the housing typology, based on minimal use of space with addition of further units according to the increasing family size. The design solution also had to take into consideration issues related to flooding, waterlogging and other water related problems in Gorakhpur.
