RULES FOR BORROWING TOOLS/EQUIPMENT
Applicable from July 2016


Purpose is to inculcate workshop discipline amongt users (workshop staff, teaching staff, students, members).  Workshop tools borrowing is an activity similar to Library books borrowing)

  1. Tools must be signed out and signed in only by the Workshop Technician / Student Assistants on duty.
  2. A current and registered CEPT University Student, Existing Staff or Faculty are only eligible to borrow the tools.
  3. Tools borrowers need to submit their original valid CEPT University ID card to the technician and the ID card will be returned only after the tools are returned to the Workshop Technician.  
  4. Tools can only be signed out for 1 working day at a time and in case of non-compliance, there is a fine as per the following rules.
  5. Borrowed tools must be returned on or before 12 p.m. on the day that it is due.
  6. Borrowed tools can be renewed for additional one day only if they have not been reserved by others or subject to the requirement for workshop based course.
  7. Tools must be returned in working condition and include all parts and pieces.  Not broken or damaged.
  8. In case of damage and/or lost tools or missing parts, will be subject to replacement of the tools or borrower need to pay the cost of the tool to the workshop.  

FINE CHART

Borrowable tools are issued for 1 working day and in case the borrower fails to return them then a fine will be applicable:.  
  1. A fine of Rs.10 per day is applicable for non-submission of the tools for continuous 7 working day.  Rs. 20/- fine per day for all the motorized hand tools, welding machine, wood and metal cutter.
  2. A fine of Rs.10 per day will be applicable in case of the tools borrower not submitting the tools for more than 7 working day up to 20 working days without any gap.  Rs. 50/- fine per day for all the motorized hand tools, welding machine, wood and metal cutter.  Further delay will hold-up the borrowers semester-end clearance (no-due certificate)
  3. In case of damage, missing and loss of tools, the borrowers need to replace the same tools or by paying its current market rate or same specification in case the company has stopped production.
  4. For all the above payment a receipt/slip will be issued to the individual.
