NETWORK & SECURITY

  • Cyberoam is a firewall which has a fiber optic backbone network provided by National Knowledge Network (NKN) used to transmit data throughout the campus.
  • Network protocols supported on Cyberoam include TCP/IP. DHCP is used to automatically assign a network address to each PC for the students when it is connected through Wifi to the campus network.
  • Cyberoam, at its core, uses Gigabit Ethernet to transmit data and interconnect servers and network segments. Gigabit Ethernet is the fastest networking technology generally available today, with the ability to transmit one billion data bits per second.
  • Depending on the campus location, end-user connections may be 100 - 1000 million bits per second switched Ethernet ports, or shared 10 million bits per second ports.
