To gain knowledge about the socio-economic impact of land tenure status on the people staying in informal settlements. To explore how the existing laws, legislation, policies run by government agencies could be modified formalize the existing housing stock.

Research interest: The broader domain of interest includes Urban Water Governance. The research considers spatial planning as an entry point while exploring the research domain and its paradigms. The thesis would try to understand the processes and conditions required for preparation of water sensitive spatial plans and how such plans could be contextualized in the Indian context.

Research interest: The broader research interest lies in the planning and design of urban water systems at multiple scales in the Indian context. The doctoral research seeks to explore the opportunities for mainstreaming various aspects of water-sensitive planning into the existing practice of spatial planning, particularly for the fast-growing secondary Indian cities.
