CEPT Library invites you for a lively book talk on the book ‘Meaning is More: Interior Design for India’ with author Canna Patel along with the invited discussants Hiren Patel and Beena Handa. The discussion will be moderated by Rishav Jain.

About the Book:
Published by CEPT University Press, the book reveals Canna Patel's inspirations, thought processes, methodology and the design story of the creation of timeless and meaningful spaces. It demonstrates how interior design concepts manifested in diverse projects. Evolving a design concept is an ice breaking activity for creative minds. Portraying different typologies of projects, the book can serve as a guide for young designers and students, enabling them to realize the experience of each concept. Within the pages of this book, readers will discover a captivating journey filled with stories and vivid illustrations, unveiling five design principles with narratives that breathe life into every functional need. Apart from explaining the spaces in design terms as other books do, 'Meaning is more' dwells deep into how the user experiences the concept of each design through short narratives. This book helps decode Indian sensibilities and their translation into design. This could help the reader takeaway how to integrate contextual details in their design, be it in interior design, product design, fashion design, UI/UX design, and more.

About the Author:
Canna Patel is a renowned Architect & Interior Designer with over 30 years of professional experience. She is the founder & chairperson at HCP Interior Design Pvt. Ltd., a multi-disciplinary design practice based in Ahmedabad. Canna focused on interior design early in her career and she is known for her unique style that seamlessly blends interiors with architectural forms and spaces. She has worked on more than 300 interior projects, primarily focusing on private residences, corporate offices, hospitality projects and institutional buildings. In the past decade she has contributed towards several government projects. She played a key role in the upliftment of 16 Metro Stations in the city of Ahmedabad. She is currently serving as the Interior consultant for the prestigious Central Vista Project in New Delhi, which includes the recently inaugurated New Parliament Building.

Canna has served as an academician, being a visiting faculty member at CEPT & NID, Ahmedabad. She was the founding member of the IIID Ahmedabad Chapter and has made constant efforts at guiding and training young minds to reach the highest goal in every phase of life.
