CEPT Library invites you to the next Book Alive session, a series of readings designed to encourage exploration of the rich collection of books in the library, while promoting reading, learning, and intellectual curiosity.
The featured speaker for this session is Sohini Chattopadhyay, Associate Professor at the newly established Writing Center at CEPT University. She will discuss Anindita Ghose's debut novel, *The Illuminated,* which tells the story of two women, Shashi and her daughter Tara. Following the death of her famous husband, Shashi feels adrift, while Tara, a Sanskrit scholar, becomes involved in a consuming affair with an older man. Set against the backdrop of rising religious fundamentalism in India, the novel explores how both women seek to redefine themselves amidst personal and societal challenges. With rich prose and a thought-provoking exploration of identity, *The Illuminated* marks the debut of a significant new literary voice.
Please join us on Wednesday, 25th September 2024, at 5:30 PM in the Library, 1st floor, CEPT University.
