CEPT University Press invites you to the book launch of 'TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE - House Form of the Islamic Community of Bohras in Gujarat', authored by Madhavi Desai, on 26 April, Wed, 5:30 pm at the South Lawns, CEPT University.
Traditional Architecture is a deep study and documentation of urban vernacular architecture in Gujarat. It is a product of culture and an expression of the Bohra’s way of life in the Islamic community. It investigates the modified, spatial layout of the regional typology, their intricate facades, screened openings, and details in a variety of building materials. These habitations represent a rich living tradition of Gujarat.
Madhavi Desai is an architect, researcher, writer, and a teacher. She was an adjunct faculty at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, (1986-2018). She has had Research Fellowships from ICSSR and SARAI, Delhi, and the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture, MIT, and the Getty Foundation, USA.
