Meghal Arya
ProfessorInstitutional Roles: Program Chair, Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Architecture
Meghal Arya, is a Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, CEPT University, and a partner at Arya Architects. She teaches design studios and architectural history and theory in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. She has taught at numerous international Universities including Polimi, Milan, ETSAM, Spain and TU, Vienna. She heads the PhD program of the Faculty and is supervisor / co-supervisor and examiner for doctoral research in architecture. Her research interests focus on the interpretation and extraction of knowledge in Indian architecture, particularly architecture for water in the desert regions. It is underlined by a concern for management of water as a resource and the resilience of the traditional systems. Her doctoral research "Embedded knowledge in architecture - water structures of arid India" furthers this theme and has been the theme of several of her studios. After graduating from School of Architecture, CEPT University she completed Masters in Architecture from Georgia institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. Meghal has numerous publications to her credit that include books, book chapters, book drawings, magazine/journal articles, documentation, conference papers, public /educational lectures, seminars, workshops, etc. Several of her students have won national and international awards for the work done in her studios.
