As the Chairman and founder/director of Ratan J. Batliboi Consultants Pvt. Ltd. (RJB-CPL) since 2007, his work has spanned the gamut of several typologies in the fields of urban design, architecture and interior design. His work for leading corporate clients has been commended for their sensitivity, robustness and design detailing. But he is known for several large-scale landmark public projects across the country, notably 150,000 sq m of exhibition and convention centres, 150+ km of waterfront development and 75+ Railway projects. Many of these have now been in use for more than two decades, and they continue to be frequented and loved daily by millions of citizens.

Despite the extensive body of work, RJB-CPL prides itself on having stayed away from a signature style’; instead, each design brief. The firm has proved time and again capable of providing highly specialised services and yet has escaped being stereotyped.

RJB-CPL continues to work in dense urban environments with international consultants in complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. It has been the recipient of multiple awards marking excellence in a variety of services, including design of large span steel structures, exhibition spaces and green certified buildings. Functioning as a tight team from their Central Mumbai office, the firm’s origin as a multi-disciplinary design practice still holds today with a wide range of expertise in urban design and planning, architecture, interior design, project & construction management, retail & exhibition design, graphic and signage design, communication design, and many more.

Ratan J. Batliboi’s commitment to social causes has been a constant, with his long-term association with organisations such as CRY India, where he serves on the Board of Trustees. He is regularly involved in various discussions and debates, nationally and internationally, on topics pertaining to the dynamic and evocative nature of the built environment that is continually changing and growing the landscape of India.
