Tana Bana’, a board game designed by Arya Jadav, Shreya Prajapati, and Achyut Vacchani (FA UG 23), students from CFP, has officially been registered and published by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Guided by faculty members Jomon George, Hamid Raj, Anupam Choudhary, the game board is divided into two sections: the bazar (market) and the karkhana (workshop), offering a realistic representation of the Banarasi saree-making process.

Measuring 110 cm x 60 cm, the board is rollable, making the game highly portable. A typical game lasts 1.5 to 1.75 hours and is designed for players aged 17+. It can be played by four players, each managing a family, or by eight players, where two players collaborate as a team to manage one family.

Players are assigned roles that reflect the traditional Banaras weaving process, such as Saamant (helper), Sutradhar (master weaver), and Kasabwali (zariwork master). The game’s colour scheme is inspired by the vibrant hues of Banarasi sarees. Players must first visit the bazar to collect raw materials before proceeding to the karkhana to carry out the necessary weaving processes

To complete the game, players must finish six process cards. As players complete each process card, they earn two puzzle pieces as rewards, representing parts of a Banarasi saree motif. To introduce an element of surprise, the game includes mystery cards for both the karkhana and the bazar. These cards can have either positive or negative effects, influencing the player’s progress in unexpected ways.
