About Pratik Gajjar

Dr Pratik Gajjar is a structural engineer, researcher, and academic specialising in the assessment, conservation, and strengthening of heritage and existing structures. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Minho, Portugal, with a focus on masonry and masonry structures and currently serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, where he teaches structural analysis, repair, and rehabilitation. His work integrates field investigations, numerical modelling, and non-destructive testing, bridging academic research and professional conservation practice.
Dr Pratik Gajjar holds a PhD from the University of Minho (PT) Department of Civil Engineering. He completed his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering in 2013 and his Master’s in Structural Engineering Design in 2015. During 2015- 17, he worked in the construction industry and gained experience in structural designs of heavy industries and high-rise buildings and site inspections. He graduated with a Master’s in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions in 2018. During his PhD, he worked on masonry structures and interacted with different departments and laboratories. He works with experimental and numerical campaigns on masonry and designs experiments with a complete testing apparatus. He has experience in advanced numerical modelling of structures under various loading conditions (Thermal, Seismic, and Settlement) using advanced FE software such as DIANA and Abaqus. He is also competent in the experimental analysis of materials using data acquisition sensors, digital Image Correlation methods, and photogrammetry.
