The higher level admissions are open for applicants who have successfully completed 1st year of a design program and wish to join CEPT University’s B.Des undergraduate program (Majors in Product Design / Communication Design) from 2nd year onwards based on eligibility criteria. 

The entrance exam for higher level admissions will be conducted in two stages. Stage 1 is an online MCQ Test 

Stage 2 involves an in-person written studio test designed to assess candidate’s skills across material, visual perception, narratives, form structure geometry and design process. 
Followed by a personal interview and portfolio review

Stage 1 will be conducted online for which it is mandatory to have a laptop/​desktop with a webcam and a stable broadband internet connection. 

Stage 2 will be conducted at CEPT University campus, Ahmedabad and will require the candidate to be present in person on the designated date and time.

  • Candidates (currently pursuing 1st year in a design program) who have successfully cleared all courses/subjects in the first year with a minimum 55% aggregate average in Bachelor’s in Design or an equivalent Bachelor’s Degree (provided that the program is considered equivalent by the Equivalence Committee of CEPT University) of at least 4 years undergraduate program after 12th from a recognized University 
  •  Candidates (currently pursuing 1st year in a design program) should have passed the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination) or its equivalent examination from any streams (Science, Commerce and Arts/Humanities), from any State board or CBSE/ CISCE/ NIOS/ IB
  • OR Candidates (currently pursuing 1st year in a design program) should have passed the Diploma (10+3 pattern) of arts, applied arts, photography, animation, interior design, architecture, architectural assistantship, fashion technology, handloom technology, printing technology, ceramic technology, leather technology, civil, mechanical, production, automobile, with minimum 55% aggregate marks from Technical Board of Gujarat or any other state or from a college/university established under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 will be eligible to apply for the program.
  • Candidates should have a qualified score in the UCEED 2025 test only.

Notes:

- Please note that the entire application process will be online

- In case applicants who are applying have not received the marksheets for their previous semesters; such students may produce a pass certificate for those semesters from the registrar or equivalent authority in the University stating that the candidate has passed in all subjects of the first year. If admission is offered to the candidate, it will be provisional and subject to meeting the eligibility criteria.

- Applicants who have grades or GPA or CGPA instead of marks should submit a grades/GPA/CGPA to marks conversion document/certificate along with the mark sheets.

- Any attempt to influence the outcome of the selection process shall automatically result in the disqualification of the candidate from the entire admissions process.

- An applicant should appear for all the stages of assessment. Absence at any stage may lead to disqualification.

2. Self-attested copy of 12th mark sheet

3. 1st-year self-attested mark sheet of all semesters or attendance certificate with marks or grades mentioned for their first year.

4. The applicant should submit the UCEED 2025 scorecard as specified in the eligibility criteria.

5. Portfolio - The portfolio serves as a visual essay - a curated synopsis of your creative journey. It should reflect your evolving interests, skills, and design sensibilities over time. The portfolio must feature projects that showcase your creative abilities - academic work completed during your first year, along with relevant creative work undertaken prior to your undergraduate studies - such as independent projects, personal explorations, or creative hobbies.

The portfolio must be submitted in a digital format as a single PDF file, not exceeding 10 pages and not exceeding 25 MB. If shortlisted for the interviews, the candidates might carry a physical/ printed copy of their portfolio

Admission Procedure and Schedule for Bachelor’s in Design - Second Year (Third Semester) AY 2026-27

Note: The applicant must take the Test 2 depending on the course they are applying for. An applicant who wants to apply for two courses has to take two tests specific to both the courses.

Shortlisting of Candidates for Bachelor’s in Design - Second Year (Third Semester) AY 2025-26

Candidates will be shortlisted for the entrance exam based on the following:

  1. Meeting the requirements of eligibility criteria mentioned in section 2.
  2. The valid score/result is based on the following:
  3. UCEED Score
  4. 10+2 exam/10+3 diploma exam
  5. 1st & 2nd-semester result within 55% marks.

The entrance exam for higher level admissions will be conducted in two stages.

Stage 1 is an online MCQ Test, Test 1 is a foundational assessment comprising multiple-choice questions. It evaluates applicants' understanding of technical drawing, structures, materials, mapping, anthropometrics, and representation, along with their ability to comprehend ideas effectively.

Stage 2 involves an in-person written studio test designed to assess candidate's skills across material, visual perception, narratives, form structure geometry and design process.

Stage 1 will be conducted online for which it is mandatory to have a laptop/desktop with a webcam and a stable broadband internet connection.

Stage 2 will be conducted at CEPT University campus, Ahmedabad and will require the candidate to be present in person on the designated date and time. The list of stationary and other requirements for the in-person test will be emailed a week prior to the eligible candidates

The mock test for the online exam will be on 23rd June 2026. The mock test will allow the candidate to set up their computer before the entrance exam. The passing score for all the tests is 55 marks. 

The details of the tests are as below: 

24th June 2026 - Stage 1: Test 1

Eligibility:

The applicant has to submit the application form and required documents and clear the eligibility check to be able to appear for test 1.

Schedule: The test is online MCQ  - 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Tools and Media Required: laptop/desktop with web camera, stable broadband internet connection, sketch pad and pen

26th June 2026 - Stage 2: Test 2

Eligibility: The applicant has completed Test 1.

STAGE 2 – Studio Test 2 

The studio test will consist of TWO parts, each of which will include writing, drawing and/or making.

Part A shall test design knowledge, skills and competencies.

Part B shall evaluate creative approaches that frame impactful design ideas, and ability to both visualise and represent them.

Schedule:

9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Faculty of Design

Tools and Media Required: Candidates should be prepared with writing and essential drawing/sketching materials and stationery (detailed list to be announced). Any other material requirement specific to the exam will be provided by CEPT.

STAGE 2 – Personal Interview 

Schedule: 1: 30 PM onwards, at Faculty of Design

Required: Printed copy of the Portfolio submitted

  1. A merit list will be generated based on the collated results of UCEED Score, both the Tests and Personal Interview. The applicant must score a minimum of 55% to be able to qualify.
  2. The applicants will be admitted based on the merit list published. 
  3. If two applicants have the same score, their UCEED score and rank will serve as the tie-breaker. 
  4. Based on the availability of seats and the acceptance status of applicants, the admission committee, at its discretion may offer admission further, in the order of a consolidated merit list.
