The Bachelor’s in Urban Design (BUD) is the only 5‑year undergraduate design program in India. It benefits from peer perspectives at the CEPT Foundation Program (CFP), which includes students from Architecture, Planning and Technology, and a focussed final year emphasising research and professional practice through industry opportunities. The Honours degree is based on the extent of engagement with the design curriculum and the enhanced credits earned.

Bachelor’s in Urban Design

Eligibility for seats to be filled in by CEPT University (All India Category): 

Admissions 2026 - Seats and Minimum Eligibility criteria: BUD

Seat:  

Total Seats: 40

All seats will be filled in by CEPT University (All India Category): These seats shall be filled from the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination (10+2) from the schools located in India (including Gujarat State, Diu, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli) and have cleared the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) OR JEE Main Paper 2 (B. Arch/B. Plan). Merit list for these seats shall be prepared by CEPT University based on merit.

For the academic session 2026-27 the eligibility is:

1)No candidate shall be admitted to urban design course unless she/he has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with either Chemistry or Biology or Technical Vocational subject or Computer Science or Informatics Practices or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies with at least 50% marks in aggregate or passed 10+3 * Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate. The candidate needs to qualify an aptitude test NATA conducted by the Council of Architecture OR JEE Main Paper 2 (B. Arch/B. Plan) conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency).

* - A candidate shall have passed the Diploma (I0+ 3) of any stream with Mathematics as a compulsory subject from:

(a) The Technical Examination Board, Gujarat State

Or

(b) A University established or incorporated by or under a Central or a State Act or an institution declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act. 1956 (3 or 1956)

2) Candidates who have cleared the qualifying examination from schools located outside India with minimum eligibility criteria as prescribed by Council of Architecture from time to time and equivalency defined by Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi are eligible to apply for Bachelor of Urban Design.

3) The candidate must have passed in all subjects of the qualifying examination from a single board of education.

Note: Additionally, the student will have to meet the minimum qualifying marks in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) examination (valid NATA score) for the corresponding year.

OR

Minimum qualifying marks in JEE Main Paper 2 (B. Arch/B. Plan) examinations (valid JEE score) for the corresponding year.

Procedure for Admissions to Bachelor’s in Urban Design (BUD) Program in Faculty of Planning for the Academic year 2026-27

Evaluation process:

The evaluation of applications will be completely online and done in three stages as mentioned here:

Stage 1: Scrutiny for Eligibility

All applications received will be scrutinized based on information provided/uploaded in the application forms. This scrutiny is to check whether the applicant meets the eligibility criteria set for the program. Only those applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be considered for evaluation.

The application forms not found eligible will not be processed for Stage 3 and will be disqualified.

Stage 2: National Aptitude Test for Architecture - NATA or JEE Main Paper 2 (B. Arch/B. Plan)

All applicants should clear the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) or JEE Main Paper 2 (B. Arch/B. Plan). It is mandatory for all the eligible applicants to appear and qualify for the NATA or JEE Main Paper 2 (B. Arch/B. Plan) and submit the valid score along with the application form.

Stage 3: Preparation of Merit List

Merit list of the applicants who are eligible will be prepared on the basis of aggregate score of 10+2 scheme/10+3 Diploma and valid NATA / JEE Main Paper 2 (B. Arch/B. Plan) score.

The total weightage for the evaluation criteria will follow this break up:

Evaluation & Weightage Criteria 

  1. 10+2 scheme/10+3 Diploma Percentage: 50%
  2. NATA/ JEE Main Paper 2 (B. Arch/B. Plan):  50%

Online admission offer will be sent to the candidates as per the merit rank through the registered email address of the candidate. The candidate shall be prepared to pay the fees in 2-3 working days after receiving the online offer.
