UG Foundation Year (CFP) Information
CEPT Foundation Program (CFP) 2026 – 27
The CEPT Foundation Program identifies skills, abilities, and knowledge required by first-year undergraduate students across disciplines at CEPT and guides them to achieve excellence in these. Through its pedagogy, CFP works to instill a strong work ethic, useful in the transition from school to one’s professional career. The focus of the program ranges from observation, visualisation and drawing to analysis, interpretation and representation, and making; and to reading, research, and writing, with different emphases corresponding to the requirements of each discipline. CFP offers an understanding of one’s area of expertise while building the ability to dialogue across disciplines. The program encourages exploration through a blend of structured exercises, open-ended experimentation, and engagement with experts.
Welcome Note
A warm welcome to CEPT Foundation Program (CFP), where you will spend the first year of your journey at CEPT University, acquiring foundational skills that will help you continue your professional education.
Both semesters of the CEPT Foundation Program will be conducted on campus, and students are required to be present throughout the duration of the academic year.
There are also mandatory field trips during the academic year, intended to promote experiential learning.
The Monsoon Semester begins on 20th July, 2026, with a welcome note by the President and the Provost at the BNB Lecture Hall, at 10.00 am. Regular classes begin on the 27th July, 2026. Please note that the Diwali Break this year is from 9th to 13th November, 2026.
We are looking forward to meeting you soon!
Please consider the specifications below only if you are buying a new computer or tablet for your undergraduate studies and beyond. If your current device has similar or even lower specifications, it will still work fine in the foundation year.
Recommended Laptop Configuration
- Intel i5/i7 (8th gen to 14th gen) OR equivalent Ryzen CPU OR M series Apple (Processor Machines vary from being quad-core to octa-core, all of them are fine, but the higher the core count better the performance)
- 16 GB RAM (minimum recommended)
- 500 GB minimum HDD/SSD Space
- RTX 4050 / RTX 5060 8 GB or higher, OR equivalent Ryzen GPU, OR M series Apple Processor Machines (Most applications would be graphic-intensive, having any dedicated graphics card in the machine would help with your workflow tremendously)
- A capable Full HD Display or Higher
Recommended Digitisers/Tablets
- 10” Full HD Screen size or higher for better drawing and visualisation (go for more pixel density if possible)
- 128 GB or higher onboard storage space Suggested Products

Note on Existing Devices: If you already own a laptop or tablet that falls below these specifications but performs reliably, there is no requirement to purchase a new one. These configurations are strictly intended as a benchmark guide for students buying a new machine to ensure it remains capable for the entire duration of the course and beyond.
