CEPT University, established in 1962, consists of the Faculties of Architecture, Planning, Technology, Design, Management, and CEPT Foundation Program. These Faculties function as a collaborative of full-time faculty members and highly engaged practitioners who share teaching and institutional responsibilities.

About the Position:

The Faculty of Planning focused on planning in the public realm was established in 1972. CEPT University and more particularly Faculty of Planning are engaged in educating professionals equipped for urban transformation.

CEPT University invites applications for Assistant Professor (Full time or Adjunct – for candidates engaged in practice or with other commitments running parallel) positions in the Faculty of Planning as per the area of teaching / research specialization. The position is suited for academics, researchers and practicing professionals who are keen to seriously engage with teaching and research at CEPT.

Positions are open in the following areas of teaching / research specialization:

Faculty

Urban Transport Systems

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. All faculty members at CEPT University will be engaged in a combination of Teaching, Research and Institutional work.
  2. To make a distinguished contribution to teaching, continually improving academic standards and adopting cutting-edge curricula and pedagogic practices.
  3. To provide leadership in curriculum development through continuous improvement and innovate in the design, articulation and delivery of courses
  4. To contribute to the collegial environment at the University and to further its mission in the pursuit of excellence.
  5. To advance student learning and student success based on outcomes outlined in the curricula. 
  6. To encourage student participation based on cross-project collaboration between batches of students and faculty.
  7. To give feedback in reviews, outcomes of various kinds of scales.

 

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for positions:

Educational Qualification

Minimum Experience Required

Master’s degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Transport Planning, Transportation Engineering, Urban Transport Systems

5 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching, and research, or a combination thereof.

Doctoral Degree with the previous degrees in any of above discipline

Expertise Required:

  • Ability to integrate professional practice with academic activities, contributing to course development, mentoring students, and fostering an innovative, practical learning environment
  • Should have excellent communication, presentation and technical skills relevant for the area of the program.
  • Proficiency in relevant software/tools for engineering design, transport modelling including discrete choice analysis.
  • Candidates applying for the position of Assistant Professor -Urban Design program
    • Should have practical, on-ground experience working on urban design projects and specialized domains areas, such as design of public space design, street designs, waterfront projects, heritage area urban design, master plans, campus design, urban landscape, etc.
  • Candidates applying for the position of Assistant Professor-Urban Transport Systems program
    • Should have practical, on-ground experience working on urban transportation planning projects and specialized domains areas, such as Designing Street, junctions and signals and other relevant engineering aspects considering all road user groups and traffic management and/or
    • Detailed project preparation for metro systems in Indian cities including understanding of electrical/ traction systems, signaling/telecommunication systems, mechanical systems and operations & maintenance of metro rail system and undertaking financial/economic analysis and/or
    • Discrete choice modelling and applications in mode choice, route choice, user behavior analysis, demand forecasting, policy impact assessments in wide variety of transportation projects
