MSED: Program Specific FAQs

A: After the successful completion of the program, the student will be awarded M. Tech (Structural Engineering Design).

A: There is no provision of dual degree programs currently at CEPT University. However, the University allows you to take up to approximately 15% credits in any other program offered by other faculties (Architecture, Planning, Design and Management) at the university.

A: This program follows the studio-based teaching and learning pedagogy which is the unique method in engineering education. It is the only program in India where architects can do their masters in Structural Engineering.  It focuses on fostering education in the wide array of structural engineering with varied materials such as reinforced concrete, steel, bamboo, timber or stone and with the varied typology such as buildings, heavy-duty industrial structures, silos, chimneys, water tanks, ports and later delves into complex phenomena of structural repairs and retrofitting, tall buildings and bridge design. The studios are supported with related courses and electives that act as fillers in this problem-solving engaging pedagogy. In a nutshell, the program equips engineers and architects with the sound principles of engineering & design for developing efficient and innovative structural systems across diverse applications. A: The MSED curriculum offers students immersive exposure to global construction and design practices through travel-based courses. In addition, MSED students may benefit from short-term academic exchange opportunities in Portugal and Italy.

A: GATE qualification is not compulsory while applying for University seats in the Master of Technology programs at CEPT University

A: Yes, there is a written test for those who do not have a GATE score or do not wish to apply using their GATE score. A common Online CEPT PG Test is organised for all the postgraduate programs.

A: For the MSED program students can use their GATE score from the following papers either as standalone choices or in combination with other subjects -- AR (Architecture and Planning) or CE (Civil Engineering). If you have taken any of these papers in combinations with other papers that are not listed here, then also you can use your GATE score.

A: Yes.

A: CEPT PG Test will be online home-based exam. It will consist of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) related to Verbal English, Logical Reasoning, and Mathematical Ability

A: During their tenure at CEPT, students are expected to work individually on the assigned projects in their studios and thereby are exposed to professional scenario right from day one of this program. As a result, graduates from this program are preferred candidates for design firms (national/international) related to bridges, industrial structures, marine structures and buildings. They have also been successful in starting their own practice and establishing a consultancy firm.
