Admission Procedures

Procedure for Admissions to Master’s in Structural Engineering Design (MSED) Program, Faculty of Technology for the Academic year 2026 – 27

Indian National Applicants

Applicants for the M. Tech. program in the general category shall have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks, and those in the reserved categories shall have a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in qualifying degree (or equivalent) from a recognized University / Institution.

Qualifying Degrees

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering / Construction Technology / Architecture from a recognized institution.

International/Foreign Applicants

Eligibility and Qualifying Degrees

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering / Construction Technology /  Architecture from a recognized institution with a minimum of 50% of aggregate marks.

Sponsored Candidates

Eligibility

Applicants for the M.Tech. program in the general category shall have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and those in the reserved categories shall have a minimum of 45% aggregate marks for the qualifying degrees from a recognized institution.

Qualifying Degrees

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering / Construction Technology / Architecture from a recognized institution.

Work Experience

Applicants should have minimum 5 years of overall experience as on the last date of application of the year in which the application is made, with at least 2 years in service of the organisation sponsoring his study. This organisation can be academic, industrial, or research-based in the relevant field for which the candidate is seeking admission.

Application Information & Requirements

The entire application process will be online.

The application forms contain the following:

  1. Complete the application form with all the required details.
  2. Upload the self-attested Degree certificate and marksheets for all the semesters. Applicants in the final semester must submit all the mark sheets until the penultimate semester. Applicants receiving grades as GPA/CGPA must submit the % equivalency certificate obtained from their respective institute/university indicating the conversion of GPA/CGPA to percentage of marks out of 100. 
  3. Upload the self-attested copies of 10th marksheet and12th marksheet or Diploma certificate and marksheets for all semesters. Applicants receiving grades as GPA/CGPA in Diploma program must submit the % equivalency certificate obtained from their respective institute/university indicating the conversion of GPA/CGPA to percentage of marks out of 100. 
  4. For Indian National Applicants: Upload valid GATE score card [Architecture and Planning Test Paper (AR) or Civil Engineering (CE) Test Paper]. Candidates awaiting results may still apply. Applicants who already have a valid GATE score are not required to take a separate PG entrance test and may apply using GATE score. In case of invalid GATE Score or national candidates who did not appear for GATE, they will have to appear for online CEPT PG Test.
  5. For International/Foreign Applicants: Upload the valid GRE score card. GRE score shall be considered valid if taken within the last 2 years. In case of invalid GRE Score or international candidates did not appear for GRE, they will have to appear for online CEPT PG Test. 
  6. Upload the Curriculum Vitae.
  7. If you have the professional experience, upload the relevant experience certificates. Note: Only full-time work experience in the program relevant field will be considered. 
  8. Mention two references, either from academia or from industry. The referee should be able to upload the reference letters till 3 days after the announced last date of application.
  9. Upload relevant achievement certificates received from international/national or state level competitions.   
  10. For Sponsored Candidates: Please upload Sponsorship Certificate, No Objection Certificate, Proof of Employment (Appointment letter, Form No. 16 for the last two years from the last employer, Experience certificate(s) indicating minimum experience of 5 years, any other proof as deemed necessary by the committee) from the last employer. Note: Only full-time work experience will be considered. 
  11. GATE cut off: applicants who have received the score below cutoff score as published by the relevant authority, he/she needs to appear for online CEPT PG Test.

Indian National Applicants

Step 1 Eligibility Check and Shortlist:

All applications received will be scrutinised for the eligibility based on information provided/uploaded in the application form. An applicant must submit all grade reports; cumulative percentage scored in all semesters, and GATE score (if applying using GATE score) supported by the appropriate documents. Only the applicants meeting the eligibility criteria will be shortlisted for further criteria of assessment.

Step 2 Entrance exam

CEPT PG Entrance Test will be conducted online. Candidates can take the test from their homes. It will consist of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) related to Verbal English, Logical Reasoning, and Mathematical Ability. The applicant must ensure appearing for the examination on the announced date and time. 

Note: Applicants who already have a valid GATE score are not required to take a separate PG entrance test and may apply using GATE score.

Step 3 Personal interviews (online)

Personal interviews of all candidates will be conducted online. The applicant must ensure appearing for the online personal interview on the announced date and time. 

Candidates may be admitted based on their performance in all the criteria (% of marks obtained in 10th, 12th or diploma, % of marks obtained in Bachelor’s program, relevant work experience, online personal interview and international, national or state level achievements and GATE / CEPT PG Test Score).

Step 4 Final Merit List

The final merit list will be based on the compilation of performance of marks obtained through evaluation criteria as listed below:

Evaluation Criteria

  1. 10th standard percentage marks
  2. 12th standard / Diploma percentage marks
  3. Bachelor’s percentage marks
  4. Relevant Work experience [5 Yrs and above: 10; 4 Yrs: 8; 3 Yrs: 6; 2 Yrs: 4: 1 Yr: 2]
  5. International / National / State level achievements
  6. Online personal Interview
  7. GATE Score / Online CEPT PG Test

Separate merit lists will be generated for each M. Tech program based on the total score of the evaluation criteria mentioned in respective programs. Applicants will be admitted to a specific M. Tech program based on their rank on the corresponding merit list to fill the available seats. The candidates can view their merit rank on their dashboard on CEPT admission portal once the merit list is published.

International/Foreign Applicants

Note: Applicants who already have a GRE score are not required to take a separate PG entrance test and may apply using GRE score.

 Step 3 Personal interviews (online)

Personal interviews of all candidates will be conducted online. The applicant must ensure appearing for the online personal interview on the announced date and time. 

Step 4 Final Merit List

It will consist of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) related to Verbal English, Logical Reasoning, and Mathematical Ability. The applicant must ensure appearing for the examination on the announced date and time.

The admissions for Government Seats shall be conducted by the respective Admission Committee constituted in accordance with the provisions of the said Act. These seats shall be offered to the students who have passed the qualifying examination from an eligible Board or University located in the State of Gujarat.  The students who qualify as per the eligibility criteria and possess domicile of the State of Gujarat shall also be eligible for admission to Government Seats
