About CEPT Urban Planning and Design Foundation (CUPDF), CEPT University

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India has designated CEPT University as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Urban Planning and Design in December 2023. CEPT University’s CoE is housed within CEPT Urban Planning and Design Foundation (CUPDF), a not-for-profit company of CEPT University, Ahmedabad.

The main objective of CUPDF is to undertake action research and capacity building across cities and states. Its focus is on enhancing the effectiveness of urban planning and design by identifying urban problems, generating research-based insights and informing cities with tailored solutions to support the implementation of urban projects.

About the Position:

The Research Intern(s) will support the CUPDF team's ongoing study on urban morphology of various cities. The intern(s) will assist in making drawings and analysing data for selected neighbourhoods from both secondary sources and field data. Responsibilities will include creating accurate drawings, creating 3D views and analysing data on various parameters of urban morphology.

Other tasks on the job may include:

  • Analyze data, create maps and visual representations
  • Extract insights on urban design across cities
  • Contribute to research reports, presentations, etc. summarizing findings from the study.

Reports to: Research Associate / Deputy Head / Head at CUPDF 

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or completed a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning or related field.
  • Experience with study of urban neighbourhoods and high proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Rhino, Grasshopper, AutoCAD.
  • Experience in QGIS/ArcGIS will be preferred.
  • Should have the ability to analyse urban morphology, create effective visualisation and organize workflow.
