About CEPT Urban Planning and Design Foundation (CUPDF), CEPT University

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India has designated CEPT University as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Urban Planning and Design in December 2023. CEPT University’s CoE is housed within CEPT Urban Planning and Design Foundation (CUPDF), a not-for-profit company of CEPT University, Ahmedabad.

The main objective of CUPDF is to undertake action research and capacity building across cities and states. Its focus is on enhancing the effectiveness of urban planning and design by identifying urban problems, generating research-based insights and informing cities with tailored solutions to support the implementation of urban projects.

About the Position:

The Research Intern will support the CUPDF team in in conducting the BGI Case Study Documentation Project, which aims to document and evaluate Blue-Green Infrastructure (BGI) projects across Indian cities. This role involves collecting and analyzing data on the technical and financial performance of BGI strategies. It includes conducting fieldwork, including stakeholder interviews, photographic documentation, etc. of selected projects. He/she will assist in drafting case reports and presentations and work closely with the Project Lead to maintain documentation quality and consistency.

Other tasks on the job may include:

  • Analyze data, create maps and visual representations
  • Extract insights on urban planning and development across cities
  • Contribute to research reports, presentations, etc. summarizing findings from the study.

Reports to: Project Lead / Deputy Head / Head at CUPDF

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban planning / urban design / infrastructure planning / landscape architecture or related field with 0 to 2 years work experience.
  • Familiarity with concepts of Blue-Green Infrastructure and urban water systems.
  • Basic skills in spatial documentation and qualitative research methods preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for documenting field findings and interviews.
