About the monograph:
This monograph is more than a chronicle of Cyrus Jhabvala’s life and works. It examines how an extraordinary individual, shaped by extraordinary times, indelibly impacted the pedagogy, profession, production and policy of post-Independence Indian architecture.
Portrayed not only as an architect, educator, artist, and collector but also a singular thinker, a tenacious mentor, he was admired and misunderstood in equal measure. Drawing on memory, archival material, and the socio-cultural context that shaped him, this monograph offers a balanced and nuanced account of his multifaceted legacy — a work of enduring relevance for students, teachers and scholars of urban and architectural history in modern India and beyond.
Published by CEPT University Press, the Monograph is an outcome of the Research Associateship program at the CEPT Archives.
