FM ongoing studio 2

Program brief

The Master’s in Urban Management (MUM) program blends specialized urban knowledge with management principles to improve the social, technological, operational, and financial functioning of cities and towns. We prepare students to lead organizations managing human habitats in both the public and private sectors. Being housed in the CEPT ecosystem means our management program carries a unique orientation to the related disciplines of planning, architecture, design and technology.

Master’s in Urban Management

The MUM program is background-agnostic, encouraging individuals from diverse academic backgrounds who are passionate about urban management. Prospective students should have an interest in solving complex urban problems.

The MUM program spans two years, combining foundational learning with specialized urban management skills. The first year focuses on management issues in a limited built environment such as townships or infrastructure projects, while the second year delves into large-scale urban management, including neighborhoods, towns, and cities.

Studio-based pedagogy: Our students go beyond the case study method to immerse themselves in 18-week-long field-based studios where they tackle real-world problems

Comprehensive Curriculum covering finance, contracts, communication, organisational behaviour and human resource management, operations, project management, digital governance, and more

Directed Research Project (DRP): The opportunity to conduct in-depth research guided by faculty

Global Exposure: Opportunities for study tours and exchange programs in in SE Asia, Australia, Europe and the US

Graduates of the MUM program are well-equipped to pursue diverse career paths in the urban development sector. Alumni find opportunities in local governments, international development agencies, project management firms, infrastructure companies, real estate consultancies, and non-governmental organizations.
