BUD Urban Forma 2023

Resilient Design, Creative Minds: Building Stronger Cities, One Brushstroke at a Time

Welcome to UrbanForma, an initiative by India's first Bachelor's in Urban Design (BUD) program. Through this endeavor, we aim to ignite meaningful dialogues regarding the design of our cities, public spaces, and urban development through a sequence of yearly events. This year, we extend our invitation to young talents, students in grades 9-12, to participate in ‘Resilient Design, Creative Minds: Building Stronger Cities, One Brushstroke at a Time’ a National and Gujarat State Level Visualization Competition. This competition aims to encourage exploration of design concepts that envision the creation of 'Resilient Cities of Tomorrow.'

We inhabit dynamic, ever-evolving cities, constantly adapting and evolving in response to a multitude of challenges, ranging from the impacts of climate change to pandemics. These challenges have become more frequent and severe than ever before, necessitating our cities to cultivate the ability to efficiently allocate and mobilize resources, withstand shocks, and restore stability after crises - in essence, to become resilient. Achieving this goal requires us to profoundly reimagine every facet of our cities. Given that our cities serve as hubs of innovation, progress, and transformation, can you envision what these 'Resilient Cities of Tomorrow,' might look like?

This competition invites students to showcase their creative talents in capturing the essence of urban resilience, showcasing the evolution, innovation, and recovery of cities. You have the freedom to employ any artistic medium you prefer, whether it's painting, photo collages, illustrations, digital art, or a 2-minute video to convey this concept. As you create your visualization, remember that you're not just crafting art; you're envisioning the future of our cities. How can you amplify their capacity to adapt, their sustainability, and their preparedness for change? Your visualization has the potential to inspire, provoke contemplation, and ignite dialogues regarding urban resilience!
