Master's in Urban Planning
In the era of rapid urbanization, planning a city or an urban area is challenging yet rewarding task for those keenly interested in transforming and improving our cities. This requires a multi-layered, nuanced understanding of the factors influencing the development of our cities. The MUP program is designed to equip the students with knowledge and skills necessary for dealing with the complex issues at different scales, and providing exposure to the national and international best-practices in urban planning.
During this two-year program, the students learn to observe and analyse multi-dimensional factors influencing our cities, and apply their own critical thinking for providing innovative integrated solutions. Through hands-on projects, theory courses, directed research, and national and international study opportunities, the students are equipped with knowledge for planning at regional, city, zonal and local scales. Integration of built form, land use, transport, infrastructure, economic and sustainability aspects form a crucial part of the studio-based learning.
The faculty members and tutors in the program include leading practitioners, academicians and researchers with national and international experience. Students graduating from this programme are placed in national and global consulting firms, government organizations, and various research institutes and NGOs .
On successful completion of the program, the students will be awarded the degree of Master of Planning (Urban Planning).
