1. May I please know how to pay the fee for admission form in case I download it from the University website?

2. I wish to apply to the Master’s in Planning program at CEPT this year for the 2013 intake. I wanted to know if GATE qualification is compulsory for application. I am currently enrolled in the final year of a B. Arch undergraduate program.

3. Is there only one form for all the Master’s in Planning courses/specialization? And do we have to fill separate forms for each stream? And if that is the case how do we address them to the different departments? Kindly inform me of the procedure for this.

4. Is there any written test for the admissions?

5. Do I have to fix photo and signature also on the online form?

6. I would like to know the eligibility conditions for the following two cases, if you can help me, I would be very thankful.

1. May I please know how to pay the fee for admission form in case I download it from the University website?

You will have to submit a demand draft worth Rs. 2000/- drawn in favour of “CEPT Faculty of Planning” along with a duly filled printed copy of the admission form.

2. I wish to apply to the Master’s in Planning program at CEPT this year for the 2013 intake. I wanted to know if GATE qualification is compulsory for application. I am currently enrolled in the final year of a B. Arch undergraduate program.

If you have GATE qualification, your chances of getting admissions increases as we have 10% weightage in the selection merit for the GATE score. However, GATE qualification is not compulsory; more than 50% of our students do not have GATE qualification, so I would encourage you to apply.

3. Is there only one form for all the Master’s in Planning courses/specialization? Do we have to fill separate forms for each stream? And if that is the case how do we address them to the different departments? Kindly inform me of the procedure for this.

You are only required to fill one form. There is only one Master’s in Planning course, within which students have an option to choose between seven specializations/majors that is Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Housing Planning, Infrastructure Planning, Industrial Area Planning, Transport Planning and Rural Planning.

4. Is there any written test for the admissions?

No there is no written test, the selection process includes a group discussion, following which the prospective students are asked to write a one-two page write up about the topics discussed in the group discussion. The group discussion is then followed by a personal interview.

5. Do I have to fix photo and signature also on the online form?

No it is not required to fix a photo on the online form.

6. I would like to know the eligibility conditions for the following two cases, if you can help me, I would be very thankful.

  • BA in Geography as regular and MA geography degree through correspondence/ distance.
  • BA in Geography and Master’s in Remote Sensing and GIS

In both cases you will not qualify for admission in Master’s in Planning program please refer to the qualification requirement posted on admission page on our website www.cept.ac.in

7. For the GATE score since there is no percentile printed on the score card, can we put the value as per standard formula?

Yes you can

8. There is no option to choose the branch, when do we get to mention our order of preference?

After you get admission to the Master’s in Planning program, you will be able to choose the specialization/major at the end of the first semester. This will be on the basis your performance in the first semester.

We are not offering the dual degree program from this year on.

10. I am in the final year of Architecture at my college. My exams and juries for my last year are still pending and I will not receive final grades or degree certificate from my university before the last date of application. Can I still apply?

Those students currently in last semester of the course (10th Semester) can apply provided that they are able to produce a letter from the college that she /he is currently registered in the last semester and she/he is appearing for the finals exams and can finish all the formalities to get the final degree before the registration on the 13th of July 2013. They will also have to submit the attested copies of the mark sheets of the first 9 semesters along with the application form. Candidates who get admission offer will be admitted provisionally. At the time of admission they should submit a provisional degree certificate from the institute along with the migration certificate. The student should have completed all the formalities related to their semester 10 (exams, juries etc) before the commencement of the semester here. The final result indicating that the student has cleared the Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture is required by CEPT University by this time; and failure to which will lead to cancellation of admission. Such students should be able to submit a provisional degree certificate from the institute along with the migration certificate by 30th September, 2013.

12. Kindly let me know the fee structure for Master’s in Planning programs for the year 2013-14. What are the provisions for financial assistance for M. Arch Students?

Please note that the information regarding the fees and the Scholarships available is as per what is being envisaged for the next year. The final amount of fees and rules related to scholarship may vary before the admission, and it will be best to check before you decide to enrol.

The fees for Master’s in Planning Course is expected to be Rs. 80,000/- semester, amounting Rs. 1,60,000/- a year. Additional to this will be the Summer/Winter School fees, which are expected to be Rs. 20,000/-. All Masters’ students are expected to do at least two of these in the two years of their career at CEPT. In addition to this there is a refundable deposit to be made amounting to Rs. 25,000/-.

The scholarship offered is 50% of the total fees, i.e. Rs. 80,000/- a year in the above case. The selection of the students to whom scholarship could be offered, would be based on the need and the merit (the first semester performances will be assessed for this).

The University also has a scheme which is beneficial to students opting for bank loans to fund their study at CEPT University. The University has introduced (Tuition Fees Loan Scholarship Scheme), by which it will reimburse interest to the extent of 50% of the interest paid by the student/parents during the study period. The Scheme is applicable to students whose household income is below Rs. 7.5 lakh and the students should have not received any financial help from any other source.

Students might also be able to avail a limited number of SP Alumni fellowship will have to intimate us at the time of interview and fill up a separate form for it.

13. My interview dates are clashing with the dates of another university. Can the interview dates be adjusted?

The interview dates for the Master’s in Planning Programs at CEPT are 1stJuly in Pune, Kolkata and Chennai; 2nd and 3rd July in Delhi and 4th July in Ahmedabad. If you prefer any one of these dates specifically; for example if you prefer your interviews to be on the 1st July so that you can attend another interview in one of the mentioned locations, and likewise for other centres.

14. Can the last date/ time of application be extended?

Please note that the applications will be accepted during the office hours till the15th of June, 2013. If you are sending your application package by courier, it should reach the University office by the stipulated time. Any applications received after this will not be considered for admission.
