Reading and writing workshops

  • From Dissertation to Monograph: The Book Proposal: We are curating a workshop for doctoral students and faculty to pitch their research projects as monographs to potential publishers. Equally, if you are thinking about turning your doctoral project into a monograph, we can help work on your book proposal or offer you feedback. Planned for March 2025

  • Writing Up the Dissertation/Directed Research Project: Introducing the main components: systems of inquiry in different disciplines, meaningful literature reviews, choices of method and methodology, theoretical and conceptual frameworks, analyses. And of course, the way everything comes together in writing. On request

  • The Grant Proposal/The Research Proposal: The architecture, planning and design ecosystem is big on the public competition model. A number of CEPT faculty are habitual competition winners. Count on their expertise and experience in putting together winning proposals. On request

  • Writing for the Mainstream Press: How to pitch op-eds, features on built environment and design subjects to editors in the press, keeping the relevance of the news cycle in mind. On request

  • AI in the Classroom: Feeding prompts to ChatGpt and other AI providers such as Liner to see what the quality of answers and writing is, discerning the patterns in AI writing (because right now there is a clear pattern), understanding AI and basic creative copyright through the work of legal scholar Menaka Guruswamy and finally, a fun session on AI and literature/popular culture. On request

  • The Presentation: A longer session where participants spend the second half attempting presentations based on their drawings or written work. On request
