In this session a panel of six practitioners will engage with wide ranging questions such as: whether urban design has emerged as a distinct practice and discipline in India or is it still a loose alliance of professionals? If it is a distinct profession what are the core competencies and services, it offers? Have urban design projects gone beyond the concerns of place-making in the public realm and engaged with other issues of urban development? If it is not, and remains a struggling and fledgling profession, what impedes its growth? What should be the role of education and training in this?
