About CEPT Urban Planning and Design Foundation (CUPDF), CEPT University

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India has designated CEPT University as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Urban Planning and Design in December 2023. CEPT University’s CoE is housed within CEPT Urban Planning and Design Foundation (CUPDF), a not-for-profit company of CEPT University, Ahmedabad.

The main objective of CUPDF is to undertake action research and capacity building across cities and states. Its focus is on enhancing the effectiveness of urban planning and design by identifying urban problems, generating research-based insights and informing cities with tailored solutions to support the implementation of urban projects.

About the Position:

The Research Intern(s) will support the CUPDF team's ongoing study on assessing the outcomes of GIS-based Master Plans under the AMRUT sub-scheme. The intern(s) will assist in collecting, verifying, and analyzing spatial data for selected towns, using both secondary sources and field data. Responsibilities will include analyzing thematic and land use layers and supporting case study development through data interpretation and map preparation.

Other tasks on the job may include:

  • Analyze data, create maps and visual representations
  • Extract insights on urban planning and development across cities
  • Contribute to research reports, presentations, etc. summarizing findings from the study.

Reports to: Research Associate / Deputy Head / Head at CUPDF

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban planning or related field.
  • Experience with basic spatial analysis and geo-referenced data validation.
  • Ability to support primary data collection and prepare maps and spatial overlays for case studies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to assist in documenting field findings and interviews.
