About CEPT Urban Planning and Design Foundation (CUPDF), CEPT University

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India has designated CEPT University as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Urban Planning and Design in December 2023. CEPT University’s CoE is housed within CEPT Urban Planning and Design Foundation (CUPDF), a not-for-profit company of CEPT University, Ahmedabad.

The main objective of CUPDF is to undertake action research and capacity building across cities and states. Its focus is on enhancing the effectiveness of urban planning and design by identifying urban problems, generating research-based insights and informing cities with tailored solutions to support the implementation of urban projects.

About the Position:

The Research Intern will support the study on ‘Inner city Redevelopment in India’. Responsibilities will include preparing case studies across 5 cities by visiting sites, documenting, conducting interviews and collating insights. The study will include understanding of the redevelopment types, processes and addressing the research questions.

Other tasks on the job may include:

  • Analyze data, create maps and visual representations
  • Extract insights on urban planning and redevelopment across cities
  • Contribute to research reports, presentations, etc. summarizing findings from the study.

Reports to: Research Associate / Deputy Head / Head at CUPDF 

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Completed Master’s degree in Urban Housing or Master’s degree in urban planning with Housing as the focus area.
  • Experience in research, writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to support primary data collection, 3D sketches, prepare maps and spatial overlays for case studies.
